View Full Caption NYPD ASTORIA — A robber choked and repeatedly punched a woman in the face after following her into an apartment building and stealing her credit card — leaving the victim with several broken bones, the NYPD said. The 35-year-old woman was entering the building near 31st Drive and 21st Street in Astoria around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, when a man followed her into the elevator headed to the fifth floor.  Once there, the suspect put the woman in a chokehold and repeatedly punched her in the face, before stealing her credit card and fleeing in an unknown direction, police said.  The victim was taken to New York-Presbyterian Hospital, where she was treated for several bone fractures, according to the NYPD.  The suspect is believed to be between 25 and 30 years old and weigh around 160 pounds, and was last seen wearing brown boots , blue jeans and a ...

Ryan Gobin faces a variety of charges ranging from felony attempted burglary and resisting arrest to felony assault and felony theft by unauthorized taking. Gobin's arrest followed a report Tuesday night at 8:30 of a man going through cars in the area of the Newport Village Apartments on Whipple Road. While conducting that investigation, police were called to an occupied home a short distance away on Sunapee Street where a man was interrupted trying to gain entry. Soon after, police saw a man meeting the description of the burglar at nearby Pinnacle Bait and Tackle, off Sunapee Street. The man started to flee but was taken into custody. Rent-burdened tenants with a household income of less than $125,000 will be eligible for tax credits, if a new federal bill proposed by Joseph Crowley, chairman of the Democratic Caucus and Queens County Democratic Party , is signed into law. The Rent Relief Act would make individuals across the country with a household income of less than $125,000 whose primary residence is rental housing, and who pay more than 30 percent of their income in rent, eligible for one of two kinds of tax credits. The first would be a refundable tax credit for those living in non-subsidized housing within the fair market value for rentals. The size of the credit would be determined by taking into account the household’s annual income, the total amount spent annually on rent, and a stimulated rate of the federal government’s established fair market annual rent caps . MURFREESBORO, TN (WSMV) - A suspect has been arrested and the victim identified following a murder early Tuesday at a Murfreesboro apartment complex . Christopher Turley, 23, was found shot to death about 5 a.m. at the Stonewood Apartments at 810 East Clark Boulevard . Police said 22-year-old Anthony P. Smith, of Christiana, was later arrested and booked at the Rutherford County Sheriff 's Office on a charge of first-degree murder. His bond was set at $500,000, and he is due in court April 24. Eagle Point Apartments houses many EWU students and will eventually have 120 brand new apartments opening. As of today the assistant manager, Ben Grover said there are 540 units. There is a mix of different sizes of rooms but all of the same sizes are grouped together in one complex; the one bedroom’s are in one building, two bedrooms are in one bulding, and so on. At the beginning of fall quarter 2017, there will be 660 apartments. The newer complexes have doors on the outside of the hallways to keep people safe in case of an intruder. They also have wider hallways than the older ones. Once the newer ones are built, prices may go up, but they may even go down, said the managers. The carpet in the hall is also pretty old and not too attractive, but they say they are going to replace it once the dogs (existing dogs were grandfathered in, they no longer accept dogs ) are no longer on the property. Who knows. The apartment, itself, has been pretty great. Nice carpet, huge rooms, good sized bathrooms , and nice walk in closet in the master. The appliances are kinda old, but they work just fine. NEWPORT, N.H. — A Newport police officer was attacked Tuesday night while booking a burglary suspect, police said. Newport police said Ryan Gobin, 18, of Newport, was arrested after police received reports around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday of a man going through cars in the area of the Newport Village Apartments on Whipple Road. The MPI measures builder and developer sentiment about current conditions in the apartment and condominium market on a scale of 0 to 100. The index and all of its components are scaled so that a number above 50 indicates that more respondents report conditions are improving than report conditions are getting worse. The MPI is a composite of three key elements of the multifamily housing market : construction of low-rent units, market- rate rental units and 'for-sale' units, or condominiums.
