View Full Caption NYPD ASTORIA — A robber choked and repeatedly punched a woman in the face after following her into an apartment building and stealing her credit card — leaving the victim with several broken bones, the NYPD said. The 35-year-old woman was entering the building near 31st Drive and 21st Street in Astoria around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, when a man followed her into the elevator headed to the fifth floor. Once there, the suspect put the woman in a chokehold and repeatedly punched her in the face, before stealing her credit card and fleeing in an unknown direction, police said. The victim was taken to New York-Presbyterian Hospital, where she was treated for several bone fractures, according to the NYPD.
