They have to move out of their homes by October 1st or they will be evicted. Brianna and Micheal Rodgers say at this point they feel defeated. LocalConstruct also developed Blackbirds in Echo Park, a collection of 18 small lot homes designed by celebrated local architect Barbara Bestor . Perch is set to bring 59 apartments (mostly one- and two-bedrooms) to a site at 4247 Eagle Rock Boulevard . The project is expected to be complete in February 2018. Howanda Calloway pointed out numerous problems with the living conditions in her apartment. “You can’t light the fire place because if you light the fireplace, I’m scared the whole building is going to catch on fire. So it’s better to be safe than sorry,” Calloway said. Police are looking for a man who beat an woman in Astoria Tuesday morning before stealing her purse, according to the NYPD. The suspect followed the victim into her apartment building near 31st Drive and 21st Street at around 7:30 a.m. and the elevator with her to the fifth floor where he placed the 35-year-old woman in a choke hold and repeatedly punched her in the face, police said. The suspect fled the location with the victim’s credit card, according to the NYPD. The woman was taken to New York Presbyterian Hospital and treated for several bone fractures. Police have released a photo of the suspect, who is described as a black man between 25 and 30 years of age and 160 lbs. He was last seen wearing brown boots , blue jeans and a black shirt.
