In tonight’s What’s Working, a local non profit that provides housing for homeless veterans has a waiting list. Eagle’s Landing has provided apartments for veterans for the past 5 years. It’s located on Moffett Road. There are 38 apartments available for the men. News 5 talked with Army Veteran, Curtis Haskin. He has dealt with PTSD for years. He has been at Eagle’s Landing for the past 14 months and says he’s gotten help for his problems. He says “I am deeply grateful. Eagle’s Landing was here to help me.” Veterans can live at Eagle’s Landing for up to 2 years, while they work on getting a job or long-term housing. CEO of Volunteers of America Southeast, Wallace Davis, had a vision for the complex, because he wanted a place where veterans could get back on their feet. “I didn’t want to do a dorm. I wanted to create a home, a place where they could rest and have their own inner peace and get their act together. We want them to get back into their community.” Eagle’s Landing relies on f...

French architect Stéphane Malka has a very interesting proposal for how to renovate an old apartment building in Paris. Plug-in City 75, as the project is named, calls for attaching a series of wooden boxes to the building’s façade, which will have the dual function of increasing the interior space of the apartments, as well as make the structure more energy efficient. Malka came up with this idea because the local building codes do not allow for extending buildings upward , but extending them outward is allowed. He has already designed the wooden boxes to be used for this purpose. They vary in size and are all prefabricated off-site. The building that is to get this interesting facelift is located in Paris’ 16th arrondissement, and was build in the 1970s. The prefab boxes to be used will be lightweight, and built using sustainably-sourced wood. Plans call for them to be mounted onto the building’s facade. JACKSON, MS Mississippi News Now - 3-year-old King Knight has been found safe after the car he was in was stolen Monday afternoon . It started on Will-o-wood Boulevard in Jackson Monday morning just before noon. 3-year-old King Knight was in his mother's running silver Chevy Impala  when a 17-year-old acquaintance of the mother, who was in the car, suddenly took off. Sharon Knight was frantic on the phone, immediately afterward . "As soon as I was about to cross back over, the man screeched and pulled off," said Knight. Jackson police immediately put out a BOLO for the child and the car, frantically searching streets in south Jackson. After two hours, the car found abandoned at the Cypress Point apartments off Raymond Road. The 3-year-old found about a mile away.   He had been dropped off at a relatives home.   "We found the 3 year old boy as far as we know he is safe," said Chief Vance. "I just saw him. It served its purpose as a great starter apartment , low in cost compared to many other apartments, and a great location. However, there were always common issues of noisy neighbors, bugs coming in and out, AC mishaps, and breaking doors / cabinets. The response to these issues were always quick and got the job done. I would recommend it as a starter apartment but not long term. First, I want to say that the maintenance staff here is well-prepared, fast and top notch. They are reliable and generally awesome. As is the office staff. We have a very nice new washer/dryer combo in the the unit. The grounds are pleasant (though they have some drainage issues). "One day I discovered I am without home," former Glenbrook tenant and Iraqi refugee Tamara Al Thanoon told KTVB. Many refugees were among those told to leave their homes and given 30 days notice to find a new place to live in a city they were still unfamiliar with. Federal investigators said they found a disconnected vent pipe in the basement room where natural gas built up before a lethal explosion last year at a Silver Spring apartment complex . They have not determined when the pipe was disconnected, why or who did it, but the disconnect would have bypassed a safety feature meant to vent gas from the basement room of the building to the exterior, investigators with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives wrote in a preliminary report on the Aug. 10, 2016, explosion that killed seven people, injured more than 30 and left more than 100 homeless. “The person who disconnected the vent pipe, as well as his/her intentions in doing so, are as of yet to be determined,” investigators wrote in a preliminary report that was made public Tuesday .
