A vote in support of a controversial 114-unit, five- story apartment complex next to Forsyth Park could be reversed this week — or area residents hoping the project is blocked could just get their hopes dashed for a second time. One Savannah City Council member is now having second thoughts about rezoning the project site bounded by Drayton Street , East Bolton Street , Abercorn Street and East Bolton Lane . After voting to approve Delray Ventures’ rezoning request for the project on Aug. 3, Savannah Alderman Tony Thomas announced on Facebook the next day that he plans to call for the 5-3 vote to be reconsidered during Thursday’s meeting. After a tense deadline last summer at the Highland Village apartments and nearly a year of wading through bureaucratic red tape , Bellevue has committed itself to the preservation of 76 below-market units. The Bellevue City Council voted 4 -0 to contribute $2 million from the city’s housing fund toward the King County Housing Authority to help purchase the property. The 86 families (and 85 children in local schools) of the Highland Village apartment complex were faced with an eviction notice last year, which told the residents to be out by the beginning of October. A developer, Intracorp, had sights on the property for market-rate condominiums. The residents, by-and-large, are near the 60 percent area median income level . Many of the residents speak English as a second language. According to the King County Housing Authority ’s own guidelines, the area median income for a family of four is $90,000. ANDERSON CO., S.C. (WSPA) – A man is dead after a stabbing that happened on Robinson Street in Pendleton. The stabbing happened around 2:30 a.m. Sunday. The victim has been identified as 49-year-old Charles Hillery of New York. Hillery was pronounced dead at the scene at about 2:52 a.m., the coroner’s office says. The Anderson County Sheriff ’s Office is actively investigating. Hillery and an unknown subject got into an altercation in front of a home in the 200 block of Robinson Street, according to an incident report from the Anderson County Sheriff ’s Office. A deputy found Hillery unconscious and lying on his back in the living room with injuries to his chest and head. The Anderson County Sheriff ’s Office announced Wednesday that four people have been charged with murder and criminal conspiracy, and a juvenile is sought in connection to Hillery’s stabbing death. Elgin will be dedicating a new park Saturday next to the Eastside Recreation Center , put there to serve the neighborhood behind it and to be used with camp programs the city runs. "There's really not another playground in that neighborhood but for a small one at an apartment complex," Parks and Recreation Director Randy Reopelle said. Reopelle said the city had at one time been looking at another parcel of land in the area but plans didn't work out. The location next to the Eastside Recreation Center is a better one, Reopelle said, and it provides the center another asset. Facility Manager Mitch Lehman said work on the Woodview Park project began last fall. A mild winter helped get playground areas ready in time for summer camps, which recently concluded with school starting this week. A couple were airlifted to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas on Wednesday with major burns caused by a " flaming cocktail " at the Shoal Creek Tavern in The Shops at Highland Village . After the couple received the cocktail at the restaurant's bar, an "additional ignition" took place and caused major burns on their body from the waist up, according to Highland Village police spokeswoman Laurie Mullens . "We don't really have the exact details on what caused the additional ignition," Mullens said. "We just know that something caused it to reignite and burned the two people that had ordered the drink."  No one else was injured in the incident, and the bar was not damaged, she said. BARCELONA, Spain — The Latest on the Spain attacks (all times local): 5:15 a.m. Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has asked people to pray for a young Australian boy who is missing after a vehicle attack on a popular Barcelona promenade that killed 13 people. Turnbull said Saturday that the boy's mother was badly injured and is in a hospital following Friday's attack at the Las Ramblas promenade . Turnbull says the boy's family is searching for him. He did not release the boy's name. Turnbull says: "All of us as parents know the anguish his father is going through, and his whole family is going through, as they rush to seek to find him in Barcelona."
