Warm vibes and cold ice cream when cops and kids get together in Millville

MILLVILLE -- In the Oakview Apartment complex in Millville, the silence was interrupted by an ice cream truck . The difference from any other regular time was that it was accompanied by the Cumberland County Prosecutor 's Office. Oakview Apartments, along with Delsea Village Apartments , were the first sites to benefit from the Cops, Kids and Cones Initiative. The Prosecutor's Office was able to create the program through the Matthew L. Tarentino Community Policing Grant , named after a detective who died in a car accident after returning home from work. The office received $5,381 from the grant to fund the event. Each child was given a ticket for free ice cream and a beach ball. "We are very grateful that the Attorney General's Office supports community policing throughout the state and we are really proud that we are the only prosecutor's office that received a grant," said Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb -McRae. "A lot of people don't...

Sterling Pointe Apartments - 14 Photos & 15 Reviews - Apartments - 2257 Hurley Way, Arden-Arcade, Sacramento, CA - Phone Number

15 2257 Hurley Way Sacramento , CA 95825 (916) 927-7767 When me and my boyfriend needed a place quick Nathan was able to get us a place and approve us in 2 days!! The management really cares i would give 10 stars if i could! If I could give this place negative stars I would. They don't even deserve 1 star. First of all, They took over 13 days to tell me that I had been approved for an apartment. They didn't even call me to let me know. I had to call them. Then the day I was going to go ahead and put down a holding deposit on an apartment, they had a fire the previous day which obviously means that their first priority is finding a temporary place in vacant apartments so I still did not know if I was actually going to get an apartment. The guy in the front office told me by the end of the day that they would call me and let me know if there would be an apartment for me after all. Low and behold I'm still waiting for that call 1 week later. DO NOT BOTHER APPLYING TO THIS...

10 1555 Ridgeview Dr Reno , NV 89519 (888) 278-3512 Great place to live! Love my apartment it's very quiet and the amenities are updated. Maintience is fast at and work order also. Aspen Ridge will be the last apartment i ever live in! WARNING WARNING! Do not apply to live here. They charged my family $90 in application fees, plus an extra $150 in holding fees. Here's the kicker: The holding fee is non refundable after 72 hours, regardless of whether or not you are approved. That is $240 dollars, before they even let you in the door. Here is what happened to us: They dragged the application process out for twelve days, three of which they did not answer phones or emails at all (I called 15 times). During that process I continued looking for a home, since we had to move out on short notice. When I finally rescinded my application, they informed me that the $150 "holding fee" was non-refundable, regardless of whether or not you are approved. Thus, the application actu...

Elected officials call for removal of Christopher Columbus statue near Central Park

City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito has suggested the city remove the statue of Christopher Columbus near the southwest corner of Central Park, inciting a debate over the parameters of Mayor de Blasio ’s 90-day initiative to review “symbols of hate” on city-owned properties. At a Monday rally calling for the removal of a statue of J. Marion Sims, the surgeon who in the mid- 1800s performed gynecological exams on enslaved women without using anesthesia, Mark-Viverito also called on the city to remove the statue of the “controversial” Italian explorer. “I think that that has to be looked at and we have to look at history,” Mark-Viverito said during the rally, the Observer reports. “We have to look at it thoroughly. He is a controversial figure and I know that some may take offense to that but for many of us that come from the Caribbean islands, we see him as a controversial figure.” While Columbus is credited with encouraging European exploration in the Americas, many now see...

Camilla Parker Bowles Affair Came After Bouts of Bulimia

Newsweek published this story under the headline of “The Woman We Loved” on September 8, 1997. Ahead of the 20th anniversary of her death on August 31, Newsweek is republishing the story. HE WAS THE MOST ELIGIBLE bachelor in the world, the future King of England. She was, quite literally, the girl next door, a 20-year-old who had grown up on an estate in the shadow of the royal family's Sandringham retreat. When Prince Charles and Lady Diana Frances Spencer married on July 29, 1981, three quarters of a billion people in 74 countries tuned in to a brilliantly choreographed spectacle , the Wedding of the Century.  It was the opening scene of a grand, 16- year soap opera that had Diana playing a dizzying array of roles, from innocent bride to loving young mother to glamorous style setter . The gap between her public and private lives was vast. She was the most celebrated woman in the world and yet achingly lonely. Movie stars and factory workers lined up to meet her, but she felt...

He shared photos he took before the ceiling came crashing down, photos he claimed to have shared with property management at District on Baldwin Park. The property manager told WESH 2 News she didn't learn of the crack until Monday. Since the ceiling didn't show any signs of water damage, the job was placed on the regular repair sch...

Santa Barbara Exempts State Street From Strangling Government Regulations—Keep Them for Rest of City

Image
Government loves to create winners and losers.  The Chad Mayes led Assembly Republicans , the seven of them, voted to force some companies to buy “credits” to stay in business—this is a tax increase.  Then they also said they prefer government transportation by making it more expensive to drive a car—Mayes and friends voted to raise gas taxes by 63 cents a gallon.  In zoning matters, government really likes to create winners and losers. “Facing down a record number of vacancies on State Street and a citywide backlog of building permit applications , the Santa Barbara City Council voted unanimously this Tuesday to enact a six- month pilot program to improve and accelerate the review process for prospective commercial tenants along the downtown business corridor. Applicants for properties between Sola and Cabrillo streets, where more than 30 storefronts currently sit empty, will now be bumped to the front of the line at design review board hearings . Two members of the city’s ...
