Tastemakers: Pierre-Yves Rochon | Bricks & Mortar
Known as the French “master of grande luxe”, Pierre-Yves Rochon has designed the interiors of hotels and restaurants around the world, from the Savoy and the Four Seasons to the culinary landmarks of Joël Robuchon and Alain Ducasse. Most recently he designed a range of furniture — the Signature Collection — for Lalique, the luxury French glassmaker.
His apartment in Paris is close to the Élysée Palace in the 8th arrondissement. “It is a small Haussmann stone building overlooking private gardens. I kept the design classic, like its architecture,” says Rochon. Classic 18th-century French furniture stands alongside Chinese accessories from the 1930s and modern pieces by brands such as Knoll. His favourite room is the living room, which has three large south-facing windows.
