Warner Robins police respond to possible home invasion

An armed man who reportedly forced his way into a Warner Robins apartment was shot dead early Sunday, according to police.

At approximately 4 a.m. officers received a call of a home invasion with shots fired, said Warner Robins Police Department spokeswoman Jennifer Parson.

Police believe Cartrell Brooks, 24, forced his way inside the apartment armed with a gun and was shot, Parson said. Malandon West, 26, and James Alderson, 26, were inside the apartment. Parson said exactly what happened and who did the shooting is still being investigated. No one has been charged at this time, Parson said.

The shooting happened at Lake Vista Apartments off North Lake Drive. Investigators were still on the scene there after noon Sunday.

Brooks was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
