Suspect sought in Sunday morning shooting | News

(SHREVEPORT, LA) - Police are searching for a man believed responsible for a shooting that took place in the Queensborough neighborhood on Sunday morning.

On August 13, just before 11:30 a.m., officers responded to Portland Avenue and Stonewall Avenue in reference to a shots fired call and crash.  Officers arrived and immediately determined that the two calls were related. They located a 2005 Nissan Altima crashed into a telephone pole near the intersection. Shell casings were located inside of the vehicle and in the roadway near the intersection.

Violent Crimes Investigators were contacted and began their investigation. They learned through witness reports and information gathered at the scene that Laderrick Samuels, 21, of the 2700 block of Southern Avenue was the alleged shooter. Samuels and an accomplice were allegedly driving the Nissan Altima and shooting at the victim, who was on foot. The victim was not injured in the shooting.

Investigators believe that the shooting stemmed from another shooting that occurred the day before in the 2300 block of Marion Street at the Lakeside Garden Apartments.

Investigators procured a warrant for Samuels’ arrest, charging him with one count of Principal to Illegal Use of Weapons (Motor Vehicle Enhancement). Bond was set at $500,000.00.

Police are asking for anyone with information on Samuels’ location to call Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373 or to visit the organization’s website at Lockemup.org.
