Farmington Hills firefighters battled another apartment complex fire this month after a blaze broke out earlier this morning, according to reports. A three-story building at Muirwood Apartments is completely destroyed, WXYZ reports. WDIV reports that the fire began in a furnace room and blazed through most of the 24-unit building, tearing off the roof. There were no injuries reported, according to Fox 2. Fire investigators are still determining the cause of the blaze. Not too far from Muirwood on Grand River and Drake roads, a second fire at a complex on Twelve Mile and Middlebelt roads displaced several residents earlier this month.

FARMINGTON HILLS (WWJ) –  Police in Farmington Hills are warning residents of the Windemere Apartment complex to be wary, after one tenant came face to face with a man who broke into his apartment. Police say the burglary attempt occurred in the early morning hours Saturday , when a suspect cut the window screen of the apartment and entered through an open window. The homeowner was confronted by the suspect, at which time the suspect fled the apartment. The suspect is described as a black male, medium build, in his early 30’s, dressed in all black clothing and a black knit cap . FARMINGTON HILLS Police investigate rash of break-ins at Independence Green and Muirwood apartments Several reports of home invasions in Farmington Hills had police investigating break -ins at the Independence Green and Muirwood apartment complexes . The suspects entered the apartments sometime between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Thursday, police said. They were able to break into the unoccupied apartments by prying sliding glass doors open , police said. The Independence Green apartment complex is off Halsted Road near Grand River Avenue , and Muirwood Apartments is in the area of Drake Road and Grand River Avenue . A 55-year-old man whose shirtless body was found Tuesday in the parking lot of a Farmington Hills apartment complex is now identified by police as local man Gary Ramone Johnson . Johnson, a resident of the Muirwood Apartments on Grand River Avenue near Drake Road, was found after 6:50 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, wearing only slippers and a pair of shorts. Police are still investigating why Johnson was outside when he died, but don’t suspect foul play in his death. No suspicious signs of trauma were found on his body or at the scene, and the cause and manner of the 55-year-old’s death are still pending toxicology reports , according to authorities. Johnson’s family has been notified of his death, but funeral arrangements were not readily available Thursday morning.
