One year later, NTSB releases update on apartment explosion -


SILVER SPRING, Md. - Just over year after the apartment explosion in Silver Spring, the National Transportation and Safety Board opened its public docket. The cause of the explosion remains undetermined, but the report does reveal new information from the investigation. According to the report, a vent pipe was disconnected in the basement where gas built up prior to the explosion, thus dismantling a safety feature in the meter room. When and why this happened is still unknown. Pending tests will further explore this. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) said the explosion happened first, then the fire, not vice versa.

Ashwood Apartments - Review of Ashwood Apartments Bellerive, Bellerive

My friend and I stayed in Unit 5, a two bedroom split level apartment for 5 ngts this trip,originally only booking four. After staying in this same apartment four years ago, we were very happy to book again. Alison and David are wonderful hosts and make sure that the units are comfortable and clean.There is a washing machine in the bathroom,a small kitchen and dining area and main bedroom on the top level. The loungeroom and second bedroom are on the bottom level.Great views of the Derwent River and Tasman Bridge from the small patio area . The bridge is a spectacular sight all lit up at night.It's a quick trip to Lindisfarne from the airport with the huge Eastlands Shopping Center on the lefthand side just before the Lindisfarne turnoff.The city with the lovely wharf area is less than a 10 min drive away.We enjoyed our stay here in Hobart and will definately book again. Winston Peters accused of 'race-baiting' attack on Chinese air crew

New Zealand First leader Winston Peters is being accused of "race-baiting" over an attack on Chinese airline crew moving into a former special housing area that was designed to help solve Auckland's housing crisis . In a statement headed " Mt Albert state housing land now in Chinese hands", Peters said some of the former Housing NZ land at 98-130 Haverstock Rd in Sandringham "went to China Southern Airlines people from China and not to ease the housing shortage for Auckland residents". He attached a photo showing a banner in front of a house saying in Chinese and English: "Warmly welcome the leadership from Aviation Services Department to China Southern Airlines Crew Apartment in Auckland, New Zealand." The property was given Special Housing Area status in May 2014, with a requirement 10 per cent of homes must be "affordable.
