Police investigate assault at Old Farm Apartments

Lexington police were investigating as apparent assault Friday at an apartment complex on the south side of the city.

Shortly before 5:30 p.m., police were called to assist emergency care workers at Old Farm Apartments, near Appian Way and Tates Creek Road. There they found an elderly man who was bleeding from his head and who appeared to have suffered from blunt force trauma, said Lt. Jesse Harris.

The man was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital. His condition was not immediately known, but Harris said the man's injuries appeared to be life-threatening. At the scene, police were concentrating their investigation around the breezeway of an eight-unit apartment building.

Witnesses gave police the description of a possible suspect, described as a short, balding white man in his 20s or 30s who was wearing blue jeans and a black shirt.
