GRAND BLANC, MI -- A management team is out at Grand Oaks Apartments today working with residents with any lingering problems caused by rain water, according to a statement. Lathan Goumas | MLive.com Peter Witten sweeps the basement of his Grand Blanc apartment on Monday after moving out the day before. Witten said he recently moved out of the apartment after trying to get property management to repair leaks and damages but they were not done. Residents who live in townhouses in Grand Oaks are threatening a law suit against management after water leaks and other issues have not been resolved after months or years of complaining. Kelley Snyder and her husband, Dan Neff, were so fed up that they decided to speak with an attorney and they will soon be testing for mold build up in the basement. First off, I want to say I really like my apartment. I've been here about one month. I'm on a 15 month lease (cheaper than 12). I have a one bedroom apartment. The pricing is affordable. Couple of things to keep in mind if your looking for a one bedroom, and I am talking only about my own experiences. First, the staff upfront are nice. I did have an issue with my a/c unit over a weekend and in the evening, and I called the number and maintenance came right away and fixed the issue without a hitch (thank you!). Packages can be dropped off at front office and picked up. I found very few bugs, and I contacted the office to spray the apartment. Unfortunately, they don't have a plan to routinely pest spray the apartments, and you have to request to be put on the list (of which the service is available weekly). My unit does not have a washer/dryer (nor hookup), and there are decent laundry facilities , but no machines to give you change, and the machines don't take credit ca...

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Multiple large trees were knocked down by a storm in Tucson, including one massive eucalyptus tree that landed atop an apartment building. Tucson Fire Capt . Julian Herrera says the fallen eucalyptus tree trapped two people in their apartment, both of whom were uninjured. Elliott Hendricks, who is a tenant at the complex where the eucalyptus fell , says it looked "like a war zone" after the storm hit Thursday afternoon . About 7,000 households in east Tucson lost power in the storm. Monsoon storms are expected to hit the city this weekend.

PINEHURST - Pinehurst Police along with several other Orange County law enforcement agencies are working to found out how a Pinehurst man died in his apartment Monday. Raymond Lynn Maddox , 54, of Pinehurst, was found dead in his Sussex Manor apartment in the 3000 block of MacArthur Drive on Monday. Initial reports indicated that Maddox, who lived in the apartment with his common-law wife, may have been stabbed to death during a break-in but the investigation showed this was not the case according to a release from Pinehurst Police Chief Fred R. Hanauer III. Currently there is no apparent cause of death and an autopsy has been ordered as officials continue to investigate Maddox's death according to the release. Around 5 a.m., a man at The Bridges of Cypress Creek apartment complex on Red Oak Drive was leaving for work when he heard crying noises coming from the bushes. "He couldn't tell what it was, and then he looked and saw that it was a baby," said sheriff's office spokesman Jason Spencer . "He found a baby girl still with the umbilical cord on, lying on the ground." That man, Albert Peterson, told KHOU he at first thought the sound was coming from a toy. When he picked up the baby, she was still covered in blood and mucus and had ants all over her. No one was injured when a fire started on a stove when a tenant wasn't home at Fox Ridge Apartments , 952 State Ave., Blair, at about 3:30 p.m. today. According to Fire Chief Kent Nicholson , a neighbor called 911 to report the fire. A smoke detector was sounding in the tenant's unit. The building was evacuated. Nicholson said he does not believe there is fire or smoke damage in the unit.
