Three Churches Added To New Hampshire Preservation List

The state has added three churches to the New Hampshire Register of Historic Places.

The New Hampshire Division of Historical Resources has announced that Nashua's St. Francis Xavier Church, Farmington's First Congregational Church and the Federal-style Congregational Church in Wentworth have been added to the list.

St. Francis was built in 1898 for the industrial city's growing Franco-American community. Built in a Norman Gothic Revival style, it's considered the most ambitious church designed by Timothy O'Connell.

The Farmington church, which hosts the town clock, was built in the Gothic Revival style and features beautiful stained glass windows. It's the earliest identified commission for architect Frederick Nathaniel Footman.

The Wentworth church is a landmark located on the town common and stands out for its prominent three-stage tower.

Details into Minnetonka officer-involved shooting may not be released for weeks

  The questions haunting relatives and friends of an Austin, Minn., man shot and killed by Minnetonka police may remain unanswered for months. The Hennepin County Sheriff ’s Office is investigating the officer-involved shooting of Michael Tray, 27, in an apartment parking garage on Wednesday, but in similar cases, it’s taken months before details are publicly released. It was the first officer- involved fatal shooting in Minnetonka history and at least the sixth such death statewide so far this year, according to the state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
