Residents at Westlake Gardens & Bella Terra Apartments in White Settlement Complain of Black Mold
Residents of the Westlake Gardens & Bella Terra Apartments in White Settlement Complain of Black Mold in their apartments. They have called the apartment complex office repeatedly to no avail and have contacted the City of White Settlement Code Compliance department but they have yet to respond.

In 2004 the Institute of Medicine (IOM) found there was sufficient evidence to link indoor exposure to mold with upper respiratory tract symptoms, cough, and wheeze in otherwise healthy people; with asthma symptoms in people with asthma; and with hypersensitivity pneumonitis in individuals susceptible to that immune-mediated condition. The IOM also found limited or suggestive evidence linking indoor mold exposure and respiratory illness in otherwise healthy children.
Other recent studies have suggested a potential link of early mold exposure to development of asthma in some children, particularly among children who may be genetically susceptible to asthma development, and that selected interventions that improve housing conditions can reduce morbidity from asthma and respiratory allergies, but more research is needed in this regard. This is a serious health problem that probably affects more than just a couple apartments.

Ok guys…. Just because I want to save other people from making the same mistake.
We moved into Westlake Gardens & Bella Terra Apartments in December and we’ve had problem after problem. About a month ago, our upstairs neighbor’s water heater busted in the middle of the night and flooded my apartment and the one next to me downstairs.
We spoke with the maintenance men and the complex people about our concern of black mold forming. We were told not to worry about that cause it’s just water and it will dry.
Well I’ve attached photos of both of our closets that have the mold.
Don’t do it guys. It’s not worth it.
