Police: Griffith man shot his mother's boyfriend during an argument in their apartment | Crime and Courts

MUNSTER — A 22-year-old man is accused of wounding his mother's boyfriend in a shooting Sunday night at the family's home in Griffith. Arlie O. Sanson Jr. was charged Monday in Lake Criminal Court with aggravated battery, battery by means of a deadly weapon and battery resulting in serious bodily injury, according to court records. The shooting occurred shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday at an apartment in the 1100 block of North Arbogast Street . The defendant's mother told police that she and her live-in boyfriend got into an argument that night after she told her boyfriend to go to bed and he refused, according to a probable cause affidavit. She said they tussled on the couch before her boyfriend grabbed her in a “bear-hug” and tried to push her off the couch, the affidavit states. TULSA, Oklahoma - Police say they found a 5-year-old boy dead inside an apartment after a man involved in a 17- hour standoff surrendered on Friday morning. Officers said the standoff with the unidentified man began at about 5:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Riverchase Apartments in the 7900 block of South Riverside Drive .  Bryon Creech, 36, surrendered to police at about 10:30 a.m. on Friday. Police entered the apartment and found the boy's body inside. Police said the boy was his son. BARCELONA, Spain — The Latest on the Spain attacks (all times local): 5:15 a.m. Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has asked people to pray for a young Australian boy who is missing after a vehicle attack on a popular Barcelona promenade that killed 13 people. Turnbull said Saturday that the boy's mother was badly injured and is in a hospital following Friday's attack at the Las Ramblas promenade . Turnbull says the boy's family is searching for him. He did not release the boy's name. Turnbull says: "All of us as parents know the anguish his father is going through, and his whole family is going through, as they rush to seek to find him in Barcelona."
