FOREST COVE APARTMENTS LLC v. WILSON

Court of Appeals of Georgia. FOREST COVE APARTMENTS , LLC et al. v. WILSON. No. A15A0799.     Decided: August 21, 2015 Following the grant of their application for interlocutory appeal, Forest Cove Apartments , LLC and American Apartment Management Company (collectively, the “defendants”) appeal the trial court's order denying their motion for summary judgment in this premises liability action brought by Teresa R. Wilson after she fell from an upstairs bathroom while performing independent contractor work for the defendants at an apartment complex. Because the uncontroverted evidence of record shows that Wilson had equal knowledge of the dangerous condition that caused her fall, we must reverse the trial court's denial of summary judgment to the defendants. On appeal from the denial of summary judgment[,] the appellate court is to conduct a de novo review of the evidence to determine whether there exists a genuine issue of material fact, and whether the undisputed facts, v...

Mesa Ridge Apartments - Apartments - 3502 Angelucci St, San Diego, CA - Phone Number

6 3502 Angelucci St San Diego , CA 92111 (858) 569-7681 Carla is the best property manager I've ever had, no joke! I've lived in 3 different apartment complexes the last few years, and she has been the most attentive, kind and helpful. The downsides of this place are the washers and dryers. They eat my money often, but I call Carla to let her know and she gives me my quarters back the next day! The carpet in the hall is also pretty old and not too attractive, but they say they are going to replace it once the dogs (existing dogs were grandfathered in, they no longer accept dogs ) are no longer on the property. Who knows. The apartment, itself, has been pretty great. Nice carpet, huge rooms, good sized bathrooms , and nice walk in closet in the master. The appliances are kinda old, but they work just fine. The neighbors get kinda loud at times and I admit, I get pretty annoyed at that. There's not much anyone can do though. Some of the noise comes from the other apartment...

Tough calls for Glenbrook Apartments tenants in Boise, who are being forced to vacate

Dhan Subedi flipped through sheets of apartment listings on Thursday, 15 days before the deadline for her four-person household to vacate Glenbrook Apartments . She’d circled and called the most affordable units in Boise. The earliest one would be available was Oct. 15, nearly a week after her deadline to leave a one-bedroom, $575-a-month apartment. Her 13-month-old son, Kaden, rolled around the floor at the feet of her mother, Mina Subedi. The families of both Dhan and her husband, Prem Subba, are Bhutanese, though Dhan was born during her family’s two-decade stay at a refugee camp in Nepal. Subba’s was one of thousands of Nepalese- speaking families evicted from the country. Located at the corner of South Curtis Road and Cassia Street, the family’s sparse Glenbrook unit is close to the Boise Airport, where Subba works, and State Street, where Subedi works at a market. It’s also close to the former Boise International Market , where the couple owned the Bhutanese and Nepali grocery...

Australia Continues March Towards Medium Density Housing

24th August 2017 | Category: Australia, Companies, Construction, Legal, News, NSW, QLD, Research, Residential, Sector, Transactions | Staff Writer medium density approvals " /> New South Wales led the nation in the march toward medium density living , being the only state in the country to experience growth in medium density approvals in the 12 months to March 2017. That is one of the key findings of the new Bankwest Housing Density report which analysed approvals in medium density and low density housing over both the long and the short term. Bankwest General Manager Broker Sales Stewart Saunders said growth in these areas highlighted the continued strong property demand in Australia’s most populous state and its capital city. “The growth seen in Sydney and New South Wales shows the existence of a highly competitive property market there with price pressures creating continued opportunity for medium density housing in the city,” he said. The report showed how New So...

Controversial 'Rent Concessions' Go to Court in D.C.

Image
Darrow Montgomery When  Matthew Pfaff was looking for a rent- controlled apartment in D.C. last year, he thought he could find one within his budget and in a convenient location—without much ado. But more than a year and a half later, Pfaff is reflecting on how much of a headache that process became. After applying for a one-bedroom unit at the historic South Cathedral Mansions apartment building in Woodley Park, property management staff repeatedly delayed his move-in date and made conflicting statements about what his rent would be, according to a lawsuit Pfaff ’s attorney Aaron Arce Stark filed in D.C. Superior Court this summer. The Silver Spring resident is suing for damages he allegedly suffered because he had to go month-to-month on his existing lease at a higher rate, hired movers, and sold some furniture. “I didn’t want to move every year to stay in an affordable unit,” says Pfaff, who remains in the same apartment he was living in when he applied. “I’m not entirely sure...

Stanford to pay up to $5 million for bike/ped Caltrain crossing at Middle Avenue | News

As part of preliminary terms of a development agreement between Stanford and the city of Menlo Park, Stanford officials have said the university will pay for half of the cost – up to a maximum of $5 million – to build a tunnel or overpass to allow safe crossing of the Caltrain tracks at Middle Avenue in Menlo Park. The Menlo Park City Council is expected to consider the terms of the development agreement for Stanford's proposed project a 500 El Camino Real at its meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 29. Under the proposed agreement, the city will administer the crossing project , but Stanford will help pay for it. A study by consultants from the transportation firm AECOM to develop preliminary designs for the crossing is in progress. The university also agreed to provide additional below-market- rate housing – a total of 10 units, two or three units beyond what is required as part of the city's below-market-rate ordinance – and to donate $1 million, or $100,000 for 10 years...
