Police search for Spain van driver and missing Moroccan imam | Reading Eagle

BARCELONA, Spain — Authorities in Spain searched Saturday for a member of an Islamic extremist cell that staged vehicle attacks in Barcelona and a seaside resort, focusing on links with his Moroccan comrades, a missing imam believed to have radicalized them and a house that blew up days ago. Catalan police said the manhunt was centered on Younes Abouyaaquoub, a 22-year-old Moroccan suspected of driving the van that plowed into a Barcelona promenade packed with pedestrians Thursday, killing 13 people and injuring 120. Alabama woman survives 28 days in woods

UNION SPRINGS, Ala. — A missing Alabama woman found alive after surviving for weeks in the woods is lucky to have survived and is back home with her family recovering, police said Wednesday. Lisa Theris, 25, of Louisville was covered in scrapes and bug bites and dropped as much as 50 pounds to her current of 110 pounds during the ordeal, said Sgt. Chad Faulkner of the Bullock County Sheriff 's Office. "She was in really, really bad shape," Faulkner said. Sheriff Raymond Rodgers tells WSFA -TV that Theris was lost in the woods of southeast Alabama for almost one month. She was found Saturday walking along a highway outside of Union Springs, located about 45 miles (70 km) from Montgomery. Rodgers said Theris survived by drinking water from a brook and eating berries and mushrooms. Police are still hunting the driver of the van that killed 13 at Barcelona's Las Ramblas. A 14th victim died in a second attack at Cambrils. Ministers say the jihadist cell behind the attacks has been dismantled. But police are still hunting for the van driver and an imam missing from a mosque in the town of Ripoll. The special Mass is scheduled to start at the iconic, Gaudi- designed Sagrada Familia at about 08:00 GMT. The royal couple will attend. Neighbor describes Saturday’s shooting incident at Hilton Head Gardens apartments

Tasha Williams was walking upstairs at Hilton Head Gardens apartments Saturday with a friend and three kids when she heard the shots ring out. “We all ducked,” Williams said. Beaufort County Sheriff ’s Office spoke to a woman who said an unknown African American man kicked in her door and started shooting at about 3:30 p.m. at the apartment complex. They also said a young child was injured during the shooting. Williams said “I heard a woman scream ‘my child! My child!’” On instinct, Williams said, she and a friend ran to the next door apartment and found the child bleeding. “We picked him up, put him in the car, and drove him to the hospital,” Williams said. The child was airlifted to Savannah Memorial Hospital , according to a Beaufort County Sheriff 's Office release. It also said the child was in stable condition. BARCELONA, Spain — The Latest on the Spain attacks (all times local): 5:15 a.m. Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has asked people to pray for a young Australian boy who is missing after a vehicle attack on a popular Barcelona promenade that killed 13 people. Turnbull said Saturday that the boy's mother was badly injured and is in a hospital following Friday's attack at the Las Ramblas promenade . Turnbull says the boy's family is searching for him. He did not release the boy's name. Turnbull says: "All of us as parents know the anguish his father is going through, and his whole family is going through, as they rush to seek to find him in Barcelona."
