Village Mission Valley " /> The Village Mission Valley Commercial property owner and developer The Irvine Co. has completed a $150 million renovation of its 1,410- unit apartment community in Mission Valley , now known as The Village Mission Valley . Company officials said the property, formerly known as La Mirage Apartments , now has a renovated clubhouse with a wine and beer bar, an indoor- outdoor terrace overlooking its swimming pools, and a Wi-Fi lounge. There are also new poolside cabanas and a private dog park . The renovation marks the largest apartment reinvestment in the 151-year history of the Newport Beach- based Irvine Company , officials said in a statement. Irvine Co. acquired the Mission Valley property in 2013. The Village, at 6560 Ambrosia Drive near Interstate 8, is among several communities owned by Irvine Co. in the local market. Irvine Co. Makes Big Buy With La Mirage Apartment Complex

La Mirage: hilltop site a few blocks from Qualcomm Stadium The Irvine Co. has bought an upscale apartment complex in Mission Valley — the company’s largest single-property acquisition of the year. The Newport Beach- based real estate investor and developer recently closed on the purchase of La Mirage, a 1,410- unit apartment complex just off Interstate 15. The 74- acre hilltop site is a few blocks from Qualcomm Stadium. La Mirage was bought from Chicago- based apartment owner Equity Residential . A sale price for the transaction, which was completed late last month, was not disclosed. The tab would come to about $ 350 million based on a per- apartment price of about $250,000 — the going rate for high- end rental properties in the region. That estimate would put the deal among the most expensive seen in San Diego this year. The county’s priciest real estate sale of any type this year is reported to be La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad. Dallas-based Omni Hote...

Broken fire hydrant floods Mission Valley apartment complex - KUSI News

Image
[embedded content] SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — A vehicle knocked over a fire hydrant at a large Mission Valley apartment complex Friday , causing a several-story-high geyser that flooded residences and garages on the property and displaced dozens of residents. The accident in the 900 block of Camino de la Reina occurred about 11 a.m., according to the San Diego Fire -Rescue Department. It took crews about a half-hour to halt the overflow, city spokesman Arian Collins said. The flooding affected 16 apartments , SDFRD spokeswoman Monica Munoz said. The American Red Cross was called in to help arrange for alternate lodging for 23 adults and three children pending completion of cleanup and repairs, she said.

At Monday's Spokane City Council meeting , the council passed several ordinances intended to spur DENSER DEVELOPMENT and improve neighborhood centers . For years, City Council President Ben Stuckart says, the city had offered 12-year, multifamily tax exemptions that were supposed to catalyze the development of affordable apartment housing . The problem, Stuckart says, is that nobody wanted to take them. The strings attached — set aside a fifth of the property as affordable housing for those making only 50 percent of the Spokane average income — made the prospect unprofitable for developers. On Monday, the council voted to dramatically weaken the income requirement , raising the affordable housin...
