Groundbreaking for the new Highland Village senior housing complex took place Tuesday afternoon at the site of the former Highland Heights Dale Elementary school near Northern Kentucky University . Rep. Dennis Keene (D-Wilder) secured $500,000 in affordable housing funding from the state, working with the property development and management non-profit organization, Neighborhood Foundations. Tom Guidugli, executive director of Neighborhood Foundations, and Mike Chalk, chairman of the board of commissioners of Neighborhood Foundations, were also on hand for the groundbreaking. Neighborhood Foundation’s mission is to provide and develop quality affordable housing opportunities while revitalizing neighborhoods. Highland Village will provide 118 apartment units for senior citizens .
