Firefighters extinguish blaze at Far Northeast Dallas apartments | News

Fire was coming from the roof of the Waterchase Apartments when firefighters arrived shortly after 8 p.m. in the 12300 block of Plano Road, near West Walnut Street , Dallas Fire- Rescue spokesman Jason Evans said. Firefighters extinguished the blaze about 10 p.m. No injuries were reported, he said. The fire severely damaged the attic, but only one unit sustained fire and content damage. The American Red Cross has been called to help those displaced. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Dallas Firefighters Rescue Two in Structure Collapse

| Share | Share | Share | Share Aug. 14-- Dallas firefighters rescued a couple early Monday morning when the converted two-story garage they lived in collapsed during a windy storm. NBC 5 reports that members of Dallas Fire-Rescue's Urban Search and Rescue crew responded when the section of the home in the 1400 block of Padgitt Avenue, just south of downtown Dallas , toppled over with both residents sleeping inside . Firefighters who arrived on scene directed the couple to the most stable part of the structure, and both were able to get outside without serious injuries. The man who was in the apartment, Frdrick Scott, said the structure had been leaning for a while but that he didn't expect it to actually collapse. The landlord who rented the residence to Scott also said he was aware of the issue but was waiting for the tenants to vacate before tearing it down. "Oh, yeah, it's been like that for a while," said Scott, who added he was trying to save up money...

Fire Breaks Out at Mission Valley Apartment Complex

An attic fire broke out at an apartment complex in Mission Valley Friday morning , sending fire crews rushing to the scene. The fire began just before 6 a.m. at the two- story Centre Point Apartments in the 6500 block of Friars Road. When firefighters arrived, heavy smoke could be seen stemming from the roof of the building. Fire officials said residents had evacuated safely. Within minutes, the San Diego Fire -Rescue Department (SDFD) upgraded the situation to a two-alarm fire, fearing the flames would spread to the entire length of the attic space. Firefighters created a fire wall to prevent the spreading, cutting holes in the roof of the building to attack the blaze. The tactic worked, and they knocked out the fire within half an hour. San Diego police were called to assist with traffic control in the busy area of Friars Road in both directions. San Diego Gas & Electric officials were also requested on scene. As of 6:30 a.m., officials had shut down eastbound and westbound...
