After a two-year- long construction project , the new Portola Dining Commons will be open and ready for students by Move-In Weekend at the end of September. The old Portola Dining Commons contained approximately 450 seats , while the new building has 600 indoor seats and 200 seats on the outdoor patio. UC Santa Barbara has four dining commons across campus, and the building construction will make Portola the university’s largest dining common . The Portola Dining Commons are located near the Santa Catalina freshmen dorms on El Colegio Road . According to UCSB spokesperson Andrea Estrada , the building construction cost approximately $20.37 million. (ABC News: Andrew O'Connor) The upmarket Perth suburbs of Cottesloe and Claremont are the fastest-growing in Australia for apartment approvals, new figures show. But the end of the mining boom proved calamitous for housing approvals in Western Australia, which slumped to the lowest level of any Australian mainland state . The figures, contained in Bankwest's annual housing density report , blamed a fall in the state's population growth rate for the housing downturn . The report showed 43 .1 per cent more apartments were approved in the Cottesloe- Claremont area in the 12 months to March 2017, compared with the previous 12-month period. Bankwest chief economist Alan Langford said there had been a lot of apartment developments in Cottesloe and Claremont, with the 750 apartment development 'Claremont on the Park' driving the spike. BARCELONA, Spain — Authorities in Spain searched Saturday for a member of an Islamic extremist cell that staged vehicle attacks in Barcelona and a seaside resort, focusing on links with his Moroccan comrades, a missing imam believed to have radicalized them and a house that blew up days ago. Catalan police said the manhunt was centered on Younes Abouyaaquoub, a 22-year-old Moroccan suspected of driving the van that plowed into a Barcelona promenade packed with pedestrians Thursday, killing 13 people and injuring 120.
